Whilst we specialise in performing drainage services for a variety of sectors, at Alternative Drainage we also try to support noble causes and communities wherever possible.
In recent times, we donated a sum of money to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation; a charity set up by former Scotland Rugby Union player Doddie Weir.
During his career, Doddie represented the Scottish National Team in 61 appearances, in addition to representing the British and Irish Lions during their 1997 South Africa tour. In June 2017, he revealed that he is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease; an illness that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that send instructions on to muscles.
On the back of our donation, we received this message from Doddie expressing his gratitude:
We are pleased that our donation has helped contribute to generate such a generous sum of money that will hopefully go a long way to treating, researching, and raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease. You can find more about the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation via the website https://www.myname5doddie.co.uk/, and for more information about Motor Neurone Disease, visit https://www.mndassociation.org/.
